I used this potholder pattern to teach my girls to sew. They learned about grain lines, how to hand stitch, and to stitch on a curve.

The potholders are sturdy and machine washable....some of the ones I made from my children's clothing scraps are still in use 25 years later!

These potholders are magic in releasing burnt food from a pan. When you realize that food is starting to stick to the bottom of a pan, reach for a stack of three or more of these potholders. I have one made of thick cotton flannel which I use as the bottom layer. Place your covered pan on the stack and wait. In ten minutes you will find that the burnt food has released. It is important to have several potholders stacked.
